In the spirit of 'Holiday,' after paying my respects at the cemetery I came home, shared a meal with all my family members that didn't have to work, and then spent the last 3 1/2 hours in leisurely reading.
The book I read was: Generation Roe: Inside the Future of the Pro-Choice Movement by Sarah Erdreich
What I learned:
I. There is a deepseated and good motivation within the pro-choice movement: they are striving for the health and flourishing of humanity, and though I don't believe their methods for attaining said flourishing are correct or even helpful, I wish to publicly recognize that I agree with their basal motivations.
II. Within the pro-choice movement there is a deepseated fear of pro-lifers. When they think of the pro-life movement they see the violent and overly rude side of it at the forefront. [Aside: pro-life always encourages life in the fullest meaning of the term, any violence or rudeness is inherently not pro-life as it brings about division and ultimately death]
III. Crisis pregnancy centers need to be improved!
I recommend the book to those that are pro-choice as a representative of what and where the movement is today, and to my fellow pro-lifers as a means to understand how we are coming across in our attempts so that we can aim to be truly for life.
Have a happy Memorial Day!
