Painting: Complete!

Finally finished the painting I was doing for my friend (please excuse the poor quality of the picture, had to use my phone):

Brief explanation of symbolism:

Fire outside of window: the purifying fire of the forge or furnace that turns rough ore into strong metal. In this case it is the purification of wisdom within the human person by the fires of life.

Room: the room is only furnished with a simple bed, on the two walls are mirrors, on the third a window. The room symbolizes the human person being formed in the fires of life. The significance of the window is that we are able to look out on the fires we are in, but the fires may also enter and destroy the person. The mirrors are significant in that within the person one spends much time and energy reflecting on the self, either in a beneficial or detrimental way.

Woman on bed: a personification of wisdom: there is the potential to be wise in each human person, but whether this happens or not is up for grabs. The personification of wisdom as a women has no other significance other than it is a reference to the Biblical image.
