The Library

'The Library'

Who: For use by all, but designed for research and building up a personal knowledge base.
  • Most obvious usage would be for researchers, further developments will hopefully broaden its usage to all seeking knowledge and entertainment.
What: Online Library at first, with eventual World base of operations.
  • Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary texts. Linked and able to be viewed side-by-side.
  • Cross references easily followed.
  • Copyright-free classics available, newer books to be available also.
When: Now.
  • There is no time like the present.
Where: The Internet. The World.
  • Primarily located online, but a physical location necessary to preserve data.
Why: Evangelization (see here). To build repository for knowledge from which authentic culture can grow.
  • For the culture to be grounded in Humanity, must have access to the knowledge of humanity.

Design:
  • Multiple ways to sort texts and works: Timeline, Genre, Subject, Author, etc...
  • Texts available in multiple languages and formats.
  • Primary: The text or work itself.
  • Secondary: Texts or works directly related to Primary source.
  • Tertiary: Texts or works summing up Primary, usually using Secondary works.
  • Ability to make commentaries on texts, share commentaries, read other's commentaries
  • Either ability to directly add texts/works, or ability to suggest texts/works to be added.
  • Social Network aspect in order to comment on texts/works, share texts/works, or share commentaries, and anything else appropriate.
