Master Monday: Hieronymus Bosch

I wanted to choose one of Bosch's pieces to speak about today, but it was too difficult. The artist is a genius, portraying the human condition perfectly: in all of it's terrifying beauty.

Grotesque, complex, disjointed, united, simple, beautiful. It's all there. The whole human picture.

The invigorating glory of sunny and joyful times, the crippling pain and anxiety of the darkness, and everything in between. Bosch captures it perfectly.

Check out my two absolute favorites, The Garden of Earthly Delights and Christ Carrying the Cross. To learn more about Hieronymus and to see more of his paintings, why not start at the depository of democratic knowledge, Wikipedia.
